Chaos broke out in the early hours of June 10, Paris time, as Chanel’s Montaigne boutique was subjected to a ram-raid, where more than an estimated 6 million euros amount of goods were stolen.

Local and international reports recently broke about a smash-and-grab robbery that occurred around 5:15 a.m. at Chanel’s two-story Avenue Montaigne Paris branch.
Several sources stated that four suspects had driven a Jeep Cherokee vehicle directly into the boutique, and proceeded to smash the store’s windows to gain access. The thieves ransacked the store’s displays and storage rooms, with the stolen goods estimated to be worth around 6 million to 10 million euros or approximately between P377 million and P629 million. After acquiring the goods, the thieves fled the scene by setting their vehicle on fire, and then escaping into a getaway car.
A Chanel spokesperson confirmed the theft to WWD. “We confirm that a ram-raid occurred in the Chanel boutique, located at 42 Avenue Montaigne in Paris, during the night of June 9 to 10, 2024. Fortunately, no employees were injured.”
The spokesperson detailed that a police investigation is currently underway, and the boutique has since then been closed to make way for this and assess the damage. “The amount of the loss is unknown at this stage. The shop will remain closed for a few days while the damage is repaired,” they continued.
According to reports, this is the second ram-raid incident that occurred in Avenue Montaigne in recent months. In May, a similar modus operandi played out when thieves rammed a motorbike into a nearby Harry Winston store, where they escaped with millions of euros worth of jewelry.
