"Beauty pageants are very much like sports for the pageant fans get really, really involved and invested in the candidates, and so that can feel like a lot of pressure at a lot of times," the Miss World and Miss Universe alum reveals.
She confesses that putting herself out there was the hardest part of the competition as it opened herself to public scrutiny. But, she reveals that she overcame this by sticking to her vision–which is also what she attributes most of her successes to.
"I think it's really important especially in the arena of being a creative that you have some sense of what your vision is," Catriona explains, "Because you'll be surrounded by people who are always telling you and dictating to you what it should look like, what shape it should take, and it can sometimes kill your creativity."
This philosophy is something that has guided her journey, not just in beauty pageants but in all her endeavors. This is how Catriona continues to make an impact beyond her sweet yet meteoric Miss Universe stint. "It won't be agreeable with everyone but that's how you put out somehting unique and special into the world," she concludes.
