Philippine Coffee Shops Awarded by The World's 100 Best Coffee Shops
The World's 100 Best Coffee Shops is a new recognition system that identifies the finest coffee shops worldwide. Among all the coffee shops based in the Philippines, the ones that were included are Crema and Cream Coffee Roasters which landed on the 8th spot, Single Origin which secured the 83rd spot, El Union which ranks 61st, and Yardstick which is number 18.
These local coffee shops have long made a name for themselves in the coffee community. Crema and Cream Coffee Roasters is a Quezon City-based coffee shop and coffee roastery known for their bestselling coffee beans like the Brazil Mogiana, Starry Night (Decaf), and Amber; Single Origin is known as one of the best brunch spots with a focus on specialty coffee; El Union is the coffee shop both locals and tourists go to in the surf town of San Juan, La Union for a cup of Dirty Horchata or a Nitro Cold Brew; Yardstick, which has gradually expanded across Metro Manila, is a specialty coffee roasting company known for its Golden Ticket coffee beans (and the cutest merchandise, JICYMI).
Meanwhile, those that made it to the top 10 are Toby's Estate Coffee Roasters in Australia, Onyx Coffee LAB in the United States, Gota Coffee Experts in Austria, Proud Mary Coffee in Australia, Tim Wendelboe in Norway, Apartment Coffee in Singapore, Kawa in France, Coffee Anthology in Australia, Story of Ono in Malaysia, and Tropicalia Coffee in Colombia respectively.
The winners were handpicked by a distinguished global panel of over 200 coffee experts and industry pros, who evaluated hundreds of nominees using Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) standards. The coffee shops were judged based on the following: quality of the coffee, barista expertise, customer service, innovation, ambiance and atmosphere, sustainability practices, food and pastry quality, and last but not least, consistency.
