Boracay’s yet again added another star to its name. New York-based Travel + Leisure magazine has hailed the Philippine gem as one of the most favored islands in the world this 2023.
It ranked 10th in a list of 25 pristine island destinations voted by over 165,000 of the magazine’s readers. The criteria for voting included the quality of activities and sights in the area, along with its natural attractions, restaurants, and even the friendliness of its locals.
Travel + Leisure's description of Boracay reads: “More than 7,000 islands make up the Philippines, and Boracay still manages to stand apart from the rest. The tiny island—just 4.5 miles long—is known as ‘the island that never sleeps’ for its parties and nightlife.” One voter notably called it “the best leisure vacation destination.”
Ahead of Boracay at the top of the list are the Great Barrier Reef Islands in Australia, Maldives, and Indonesia’s Bali. Other named destinations to put on your bucket list are Madeira, Portugal; Skye and the Hebrides, Scotland; Koh Samui, Thailand; and Langkawi, Malaysia.
The international commendation is just one of many that Boracay has gotten over the past few years. Arguably one of the most famous tourist spots in the Philippines, the island, beloved for its white sand beaches, was named by none other than TIME Magazine as one of the “World’s Greatest Places” back in 2022. In 2019, it even took the top spot as Conde Naste Traveler’s “Best Island in Asia.”
