What Is Big Bad Wolf Book Sale?
Founded in Malaysia in 2009, Big Bad Wolf Books is the brainchild of BookXcess’ co-founders Andrew Yap and Jacqueline Ng. Since its start, the book sale has found its way to 15 countries, including Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, and the Philippines. The sale’s Philippine edition made its debut in 2018, but paused on-site operations for three years due to the pandemic. In 2023, the sale is making its big IRL comeback—and we got the details below.
What to Expect in Big Bad Wolf Book Sale Philippines 2023
1. There will be over two million books on sale.
This year, Big Bad Wolf Book Sale is offering a hefty platter for bookworms. The sale will hold over two million books for sale with new releases daily, divided into three categories: fiction, non-fiction, and children’s books. Aside from international titles, buyers can also expect offerings from local authors and publishers, according to Big Bad Wolf’s Philippine partner Carolyn Chuaying.
2. It has a brand new location.
With its immense size, expect a space that will be large enough to house its expansive selection. While the pre-pandemic sale found itself in the World Trade Center Manila, this year’s on-site revival will be a few blocks away at the PICC Forum Tent in Pasay City. The sprawling 4,800-square-meter tent is set to house this year’s offerings, split up by the three main genres.
3. There will be a “universal” price system.
The run-of-the-mill price tags won’t be the norm here! Instead, a “universal” price system will be set throughout the sale, where books are labeled with a letter that corresponds to their price. Books marked with “A” are priced at P20, while “B” is designated for P40, “C” for P60, and so forth.
4. They’ve partnered up with Metrobank.
For the first time, Big Bad Wolf Book Sale has teamed up with a Philippine bank for more deals than what they already have in store. Metrobank credit and debit card holders will be able to access exclusive special offers and discounts, including:
-
0% installment – For a minimum purchase of P3,000, Metrobank credit cardholders can avail of 0% installment for three months.
-
Metrobank Exclusive Payment Lanes – Metrobank cardholders will enjoy dedicated lanes during the sale.
-
Up to 10% cashback – Purchases of P5,000 with Metrobank credit cards can score up to 10% cashback.
-

5. Entrance will be free.
There won’t be a need to spend your spare cash on the entrance fee, as it will be free of charge. Visitors can scan a provided QR code before entering the sale to register for a free membership. After that, they’ll be able to access exclusive offers and deals when checking out through their app.
