When you live in a conservative country like the Philippines, societal expectations can feel like a constant shadow—especially if you’re a single woman past your mid-20s. From well-meaning titas to persistent family friends, the question of marriage often takes center stage at gatherings, leaving little room for discussions about personal goals or individual journeys. But as times change, more women are challenging the traditional narrative, asserting that marriage isn’t—and doesn’t have to be—the ultimate life milestone.
Actress Bea Alonzo echoed this empowering sentiment during an interview on Saksi, where she shared her perspective on the topic of marriage.

“Hindi naman marriage yung laging endgame ng lahat,” Bea said with confidence, challenging the notion that marriage should be the ultimate goal for everyone. She emphasized the importance of individuality and choice, adding, “We have different paths, we have different destinies and fate.”

For Bea, marriage isn’t something to hinge on one’s worth or happiness. “I mean if it happens, I’d be happy, but it doesn’t mean that I would beat myself up if it doesn’t happen," she explained.

At the moment, Bea is hard at work with BASH, her new business venture offering luggage and travel organizers. She is also top-billing the primetime TV show Widow’s War, where she stars alongside Carla Abellana.
