The entertainment industry mourns the passing of Barbie Hsu, whose death was confirmed by her family earlier today, February 3, 2025.
The Taiwanese actress is best known for originating the role of Shan Cai in the 2001 drama Meteor Garden. Her sister, Dee Hsu, confirmed the unfortunate news through her agent. She detailed that Barbie passed on a family trip abroad over the course of Chinese New Year.

Dee was quoted saying, "Our whole family came to Japan for a trip, and my dearest and most kindhearted sister Barbie Hsu died of influenza-induced pneumonia and unfortunately left us."
"I was grateful to be her sister in this life and that we got to care for and spend time with each other. I will always be grateful to her and miss her!"
