Back in 2012, journalist Kjersti Flaa conducted an interview with the Les Miserables cast with an unusual twist. Instead of going the usual question and answer route, she asked the cast if they could sing their answers instead of talking. The cast of Les Miserables, namely Hugh Jackman, Eddie Redmayne, and Amanda Seyfried, participated with a smile, singing out their answers and making jokes. But when it was Anne Hathaway's turn, the interview didn't exactly pan out as planned.

In Kjersti's video entitled, "This Might Be My Worst Interview Idea Ever", she asked the actress if she could do her first question in song and Anne could reply back in the same manner. The actress gave a short laugh and replied, "I won't be doing that but you're more than welcome to sing."

"The interview went completely downhill after that," Kjersti shared. "She was being so dismissive of me." The clips that came after that showed Anne giving curt, one-word answers, instantly shutting down any chance of further questions or conversation.
"I have to admit," she said. "Maybe it was too much to ask her to sing back but she could have been nice for the rest of the interview. I was just sitting there trying to make it a little more fun for everyone and she wasn't having it."

Three days after the video was uploaded on YouTube, Kjersti uploaded a follow-up video entitled, "Anne Hathaway Just Apologized to Me for My Bad 2012 Interview with Her" in which she explained how Anne said sorry for her behavior. "She did something pretty amazing," Kjersti said. "She sent me a long email explaining to me what she was going through right then when she did [that] interview and she apologized for giving me an awful interview."

"I was just so grateful she did that," Kjersti recalls. "It was a very personal note and we decided that I wouldn't share exactly what was in the email but I just wanted to share with you guys what she did because I thought that was just so amazing.
"I replied to her and I said 'I'm so grateful that you did this and it means a lot to me. If ever you want to sit down and talk about it, I'm here.' And then she invited me to interview her for her next movie," Kjersti said.
She ended the video by saying everyone has bad days and sometimes it can be hard to not let it affect you. "I think Anne Hathaway learned from this episode and I've learned from other things I've done that we should always own up to our mistakes and I think there's so much respect in that," she finished.
