Trigger warning: This article contains mentions of suicide, depression, and anxiety.
Despite being only 19 years old, Andrea Brillantes has been in the spotlight for over a decade now. While she's won over thousands of fans and supporters throughout her career, she's also faced numerous bashers and naysayers on social media.
The young star has even admitted that hate comments used to make her feel insecure. I've been in this industry for 12 years already. I was really affected by them because I was still super young," she divulged in Star Magic's Beyond the Stars press conference. I also grew up being bullied, she recounted.
ICYDK, Andrea actually struggled with depression and anxiety when she was only 13 years old because the industry was too much for her. At some point, she even had suicidal thoughts because she felt that her showbiz career was hopeless.

Fortunately, she has now learned to cope with negativity in healthy ways. So iba rin po pag online. I just got used to it. They don't really matter because I donât really know them, and they don't really know who I am as a person," she explained.
She also eventually realized that there's simply no point in trying to impress everyone, especially if it's at the cost of your own identity. She added, And now na mas mature na po ako, na-realize ko na you really canât please everyone. Ayoko pong baguhin 'yung sarili ko para sa kanila and gagawin ko lang âyung gusto kong gawin."
Masaya po kasi ako sa life ko ngayon so I donât really care, she concluded.
We couldn't have said it better, Andrea! Just keep doing you.Â
