Thankfully, the wait is up as their latest teleserye, 2 Good 2 Be True, has been streaming episodes for weeks now, both on TV and on Netflix. The Plot
Ali (Kathryn) and Eloy (Daniel) seemingly have nothing in common aside from the fact that they both grew up with parents who didn't always see eye-to-eye. She works as a nurse, dreaming of someday having "M.D." attached to her name, while he's a law student, who makes ends meet by working as a mechanic. One day, their fates intertwine at the worst possible scenario—at a robbery—and their unexpected romance takes off from there.
The Cast
Joining the reel-to-real couple are a mix of industry veterans and fresh faces. Ronaldo Valdez fulfills the role of Lolo Hugo Agcaoili, one of Ali's patients. In an Instagram post, Kathryn describes him as her favorite actor, and even says that getting to work together was one of the highlights of her 2021.
Supplementing the ensemble are Gelli de Belen, Romnick Sarmenta, Irma Adlawan, and Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz. More contemporary stars such as Yves Flores, Matt Evans, Pamu Pamorada, and Gillian Vicencio also join in as peers of both Ali and Eloy.

It's almost a given that the love team's fans, both old and new, would gush over 2G2BT. Many have expressed how the series still has the irresistible KathNiel chemistry in bucketloads, but somehow exhibits it in a new and fresh way that's related to their characters' storylines.
What the Critics Are Saying
Leading up to the premiere, Kathryn and Daniel, alongside director Mae Cruz-Alviar, assured fans that the show would still have the schmaltzy moments they're used to from the pairing, but served with a more mature take. In an interview with Cosmopolitan Philippines, Daniel mentions, "may mga baon na kaming iba't ibang experiences. May mga bago rin kaming dala ngayon saka sa performance, I think, iba na rin kami ngayon. Syempre, it comes with aging, with experiences."
Ryan Oquiza of Rappler took notice of this evolution of theirs, citing the leading man as "a heartthrob [as much] as he is a softie." He goes on to describe Kathryn to be as "persistently endearing and lovable" as she's always been, except this time, her acting chops have evidently been fine-tuned. "No one does it quite like her, effortless in the little details like a chef gently kneading dough, with the confidence that she’s done it a million times before," Ryan states.
