It’s obvious to many that former child star Xyriel Manabat has now officially blossomed into a woman, what with her recent boyfriend reveal and her daring role in ABS-CBN’s Dirty Linen. Reflecting her grown-up mindset, the actress has also went through a style transformation to flaunt her curvy figure.
Still, Xyriel makes it clear that her identity goes beyond what she looks like. “Para po kasi sa'kin, I'm so much more than my appearance. Hindi lang ako 'yung silhouette or body type ko,” she shared in an interview with Ogie Diaz on his YouTube channel.
Touching on netizens’ mixed reactions to her sultry photos online, Xyriel explained that she only gets bothered by comments that oversexualize or stereotype her. "As long as hindi naman body-shaming, 'di naman victim-blaming. 'Di naman sexualizing or objectifying, okay lang po na hangaan nila,” she revealed. "Pero 'wag nilang bibigyan ng double standard na parang dapat ito lang ako kasi sila ganito lang."
Without mentioning any specific instances, Xyriel recalled getting judged for wearing certain pieces simply because she had full breasts. Meanwhile, other stars her age would get complimented for wearing the same thing.
"Pareho kami ng damit ng isang artist or ng isang celebrity na ka-age ko or younger sa'kin, pero dahil iba 'yung body type niya, fashionable siya. Stylish siya, elegant,” she recounted. She added, "Pero 'pag sakin, 'Ano ba 'yan, nag-a-ask ng attention. Ano ba 'yan, niluluwa pa.’”
Aside from bashers, Xyriel also has to deal with the physical struggles that come with having a big chest, including wardrobe malfunctions and body aches. "'Pag sa totoong buhay po, ang sakit sa likod. Back pains tapos nakukuba ka talaga, tapos ang hirap humanap ng matinong position," she said, even admitting that she envies flat-chested girls sometimes.
“Naiintindihan ko naman 'yung iba na dream nila ito kasi ako po personally, sobrang attracted ko po sa mga babaeng flast-chested. Kasi ang ganda nila damitan. Kahit malaki, masikip, ang ganda sa kanila,” she concluded.
