Year after year, the Pirelli Calendar delivers some captivating—often NSFW—images of models, actresses, and celebrities. In 2016, Annie Leibovitz shot a topless Amy Schumer, stomach rolls and all; in 2015, Gigi Hadid wore a racy latex bodysuit as the calendar’s Miss November.
For 2017, however, the annual calendar's concept is a departure from naked girls. This time around, legendary photographer Peter Lindbergh strips off his muses of any form of enhancements, assembing an all-star cast and capturing them in a raw and vulnerable manner. He explains:
"I wanted to show women in a different way: I did this by asking actresses who have always played an important role in my life and to try and get as close to them as possible through my photos. As an artist, I feel I have a responsibility to free women from the idea of eternal youth and perfection. Society's ideal of perfection is impossible to achieve.”
