Being privy to a model's beauty routine, let alone a Victoria's Secret Angel's, is always a privilege. Lucky for us, we didn't have to fly all the way to New York to possess this information, because international models Romee Strijd and Lais Ribeiro stopped by Manila as the faces of Beauty Pop by Penshoppe, the retail brand's makeup line. In an exclusive interview with Preview, the Dutch and Brazilian muses spill their off-duty beauty secrets and essentials that they bring with them around the world.

You may recognize Romee Strijd as the Angel who wore the the bodysuit adorned with 125,000 Swarovski crystals in last year's VS fashion show, but the 23-year-old beauty from Holland's runway experience goes beyond lingerie. She walked the runways of Louis Vuitton and Prada during her first fashion week, and has fronted campaigns for DKNY, Marchesa, Alexander McQueen, and Michael Kors. Needless to say, Romee has given a name for herself that goes beyond her wings. In fact, after visiting the Philippines, she flew straight to Paris for Haute Couture week! Despite her ever-changing Instagram geotags, however, there's one thing that the Dutch mannequin always maintains: her natural, low-maintenance beauty regimen that she takes with her wherever she goes.

How would you describe your overall approach to beauty?
"I love everything natural, so I love natural makeup. With Beauty Pop, it's super close to your own lip tones, so it's just a little pop [on your lips], and I love that about it because I love to keep it natural."

How does Beauty Pop's beauty philosophy and yours merge, despite you being Dutch and the brand being Filipino?
"Because the lipstick is so natural, I'm wearing Legally Nude, and it's so close to my own lips, so it looks like I'm not even wearing lipstick. It just makes it pop a little."
Can you take us through your usual makeup routine?
"On my day off I like to keep it super fresh and clean. I mostly do a little eyebrow gel, eyelash curler, and then I love to wear a little lipstick or lip balm. And if I wear a lipstick, of course, it's one [that looks] like I'm not wearing anything. I love a good nude and a good [brushed-up] brow."

What's your favorite part about doing your makeup?
"I think the [one that makes the biggest difference] is the eyebrows. I like to brush them up. I always have a little eyebrow brush in my bag and lipstick, of course. It just gives you a little pop."
What's the best beauty tip you learned on set that you've incorporated into your own routine?
"I think to always cleanse your face. Like after working out, in the morning when I wake up. When I was younger I didn't used to use cleanser, but now I use it all the time and it really helps to keep your skin clean and fresh."

When it comes to skincare, what are the most essential products in your routine?
"For me it's all about hydrating. When I don't drink enough water, I can immediately tell [the difference] on my skin. Also moisturizing, like a nice oil like jojoba oil. It's really close to your own oil that you produce so your skin doesn't see it as a fat, so it works really well."

What's the best skincare tip you've ever received?
"To always make sure it's moisturized and hydrated. Even on a plane I put oil or a mask, it's really important."
When you're traveling, what do you pack in your toiletry bag?
"Always cleanser—I love foamy cleansers—a little eye cream, the oil, and I always bring a mask for when I really need the hydration."

What's something you personally avoid to maintain your skin?
"Too aggressive wipes, they don't really work on my skin, or makeup removers that are too oily. I just try to keep it as natural as possible. To remove my makeup, I [use] micellar water."
What’s your hair care routine like?
"It's hard to grow my hair this long. I have to keep it really healthy, but I also think it's all about what you eat and what you put in your body. I feel a big difference when I eat healthy, also on my nails, my skin. But besides that I use [hair] masks and my friend's [Gisou] hair oil every day on the ends to keep them alive."
When you have to get a little glam for an event, what's your go-to look and how do you achieve it?
"My go-to [look] will be a nice brow, simple skin, not too much foundation, a nice bronzer, and a nice nude lipstick. For hair, a nice blowout—I love to use rollers, you know the '90s rollers."

Let's talk photos. What's your secret to taking a good selfie?
"Find the right light. That's really important."
When someone's taking your photo for you, what are your tips for looking comfortable and confident on camera?
"My boyfriend says I always put my hand through my hair, like spotaneously combing through my hair. He's like, 'you always do that!' [On Instagram,] I like posting spontaneous photos, but it's really hard to get those. My boyfriend is my personal photographer, and he films everything on YouTube, too."

Lais Ribeiro
Being in the same room as Lais Ribeiro means bearing witness to her infectiously bright aura that just lights up the room. "I'm very natural. I think that's why the Beauty Pop by Penshoppe is so good for me because it's so natural. All the nudes are in the same tone as your skin. It just pops a little bit so it's not too much, so that's why I really love the collection. I really like red as well, that's why I chose [the one I'm wearing now]."

"You know, it's an old trick but most people back in the day [used to do it]. I use lipstick everywhere. I use it for my blush, and I put it on my eyes, too, so it's like one lipstick can do cheeks, lips, and the eyes. Of course, mascara. That's my go-to look for sure. It's easy to do in five minutes and you can do it anywhere."

What kind of color do you use when you do the lipstick trick?
"I use Prim and Proper. It's the perfect one because it's almost the same color as my skin tone but it's a little bit pinkish, and it's perfect because you can see just a little bit—it's not too much.

"Sometimes I mix it up, because sometimes it's a little boring when you have the same color on the lipstick and the eyes, too. So I mix two colors and put it on the eyes and then you're ready to go!"
Aside from nude, what other colors do you love using with your makeup?
"I love to wear red because of my tan skin, especially when I'm more tan, it makes my tone pop even more. You don't need anything on your eyes—you're going to look straight at the lipstick. And this matte [by Penshoppe] is lightweight and slightly shiny, a perfect in-between."

What's the best beauty tip you've ever received?
"Because we travel so much, it's to always have a mask ready in your purse because the airplane dries up your skin. Sometimes when there's a long flight I try to put it on while I'm on the [plane]. And, to always have mascara and lipstick in your purse."
When it comes to skincare, what are the most essential products in your routine?
"I think most of it [is about] hydrating yourself a lot. Water is really important. Coconut water, anything like that, and all the masks. It helps a lot. Coconut oil is the best, too."
How do you use coconut oil?
"You can use it to remove makeup, it's great for the hair, you can put it in your drinks—everything. For the nails, for skin, wherever you want."

When you have to glam yourself up for an event, what's your go-to look?
"When I don't have hair and makeup people with me, my go-to is parting my hair in the middle [and pulling it backin a] very tight in a bun, and then a red lipstick."
Let's talk photos. What are your best tips for taking a good selfie?
"I think you have to practice. You have to go in front of the mirror with your camera and you have to see which angle is your best angle and stick with it. If I find my angle, I just know how to take my selfie. In my case, I always have my phone up, because it makes my forehead look smaller—you have to know little tricks like that."
When someone's taking your photo for you, what's your go-to pose that just works every time?
"It depends where we are because sometimes they want us to be smiley, or serious, or sexy, but I'm always smiling. I try to have fun because if not, you're going to be stuck and bored, so I always smile."
