News flash: It's 2024-everyone can wear makeup, even men! The idea that only women can wear makeup is a tired and overused stereotype. Makeup isn't just used for camouflaging blemishes-it can also be used as a way to express yourself, improve self-confidence, and enhance your features.
One celebrity who's aiming to normalize men using makeup is Robi Domingo, who recently shared the makeup routine he does by himself for work. He used to always rely on his makeup artist, but because of the pandemic, he says he had to learn how to apply it by himself due to the restrictions at the time.
"Makeup equates to proper grooming...You want to look presentable, and that is okay, especially for guys, too," he reminded everyone. Before he starts off with his actual makeup routine, Robi shared that he makes sure to prep his face using a facial spray, hydrating cream, and sunscreen. According to him, this ensures that his makeup lays on better and stays on for longer. "Dapat sobrang ganda ng prep mo para mahaba yung lifespan ng makeup mo," he explained. We totes agree!
1. Primer
Before applying his base, Robi uses a primer to make sure that allows his other makeup products to lay on better. We recommend going for a tacky, gripping primer-this will also ensure the longevity of your finished look!

2. Foundation
To even out his complexion, Robi uses a foundation. If you're not sure what your shade match is, you can ask for help from your girlfriend, your girl (space) friend, or sales associates in department stores to help you out. Having an exact shade match will make your makeup look more natural and not like you're wearing a mask. For application, you can use either your fingers or a brush or sponge to make it look more seamless. If you want something even more lightweight and low-key, you can try using a skin tint.

3. Concealer
For more coverage, Robi goes in with a concealer on his T-zone. We recommend using your skin tone match if you want to cover and conceal dark spots, and a shade that's one step lighter than your skin tone to highlight the highest points of your face (i.e. the bridge of your nose, brow bones, and chin). It's not required to use a brush for application-your fingers can work just as well!

4. Lip and cheek tint
To bring back color to his face, Robi goes in with a tint and applies it on his lips and cheeks. He explained that he sometimes gets nervous when he gets on stage, so "in the process, namumutla ako and it doesn't look good on TV."
We recommend going for a water-based lip tint because it's one of the more forgiving formulas out there-it gives you enough time to blend without it looking patchy. To apply it, Robi uses his fingers to further diffuse the pigment. He also works with a beauty sponge afterward to make sure that it looks seamless.

5. Setting spray
As the last step of his makeup routine, Robi uses a setting spray to lock everything into place. There are a lot of formulas in the market rn which can be kiiinda overwhelming, but a mattifying one is always a good option to have.

6. Face powder
To retouch and refresh his makeup throughout the day, Robi recommends having a face powder with you. We reco using a finishing powder if you want something that's lightweight, will control shine, and won't add additional coverage to your face. (We've got our recommendations for that, too!)
