There's no question that 2022 is Mimiyuuuh's year. Dominating both traditional and digital media, she is easily one of the most recognizable faces and voices in the country today. Her big smile and quirky personality is just so endearing! So much so that she was chosen by dental giant Colgate to be one of the ambassadors of their Smile Out Loud campaign together with Miss World 2013 Megan Young.
But, did you know that it took the viral content creator a while to embrace her unique and "imperfect" smile? She shared during the Colgate Optic White O2 Launch that "[it took] matagal na acceptance. Noong bata po ako, sobrang insecure ko po sa ngipin ko." She confessed that when she was younger, her classmates used to tease her for having three front teeth and this affected her self-confidence.
It's pretty hard to believe now considering how comfortable Mimiyuuuh appears to be in her own skin and that she even named her clothing line Fangs after her extra tooth. The secret, it turns out, is from a line that she has read, "may nabasa po ako: When you use your insecurities as your strength, no one can use it against you." As to who the wise writer was? "Si Mimiyuuuh," she revealed with a wide smile and a knowing glint in her eye.
"When I started to live by Mimiyuuuh's words, alam niyo 'yung parang [emerging from the] cocoon? I became the butterfly," she expounds. This change in mindset allowed her to bloom into the much-loved vlogger she is. By embracing this so-called flaw, she became less self-conscious about her looks, and more comfortable in expressing herself. "I accepted the fact that I am imperfectly perfect. I became more confident and unstoppable," she said. And unstoppable she is.
She would later post an Instagram Story with a photo from the launch and caption it: "My young self is proud of this girl." We are, too!
