It's nearly 2024-and yet people still feel the need to give unsolicited comments on women's bodies. Even worse is when they give remarks that aren't backed up by research. Case in point: Miel Pangilinan recently gave one netizen a quick science lesson when they told her that stretch marks aren't normal, especially if you haven't given birth yet. (Spoiler: Anyone can have them!)

Miel Pangilinan Claps Back at Netizen's Comment About Her Stretch Marks

The 19-year-old daughter of megastar Sharon Cuneta and politician Kiko Pangilinan recently posted a TikTok showing off her cute outfit that included low-rise pants that showed off her midriff. One netizen commented: "Stretch marks pa more [laughing emoji]."

Not one to back down from insensitive comments, Miel replied with a video, responding with, "Guys, napaka-normal ng stretch marks, okay? Lahat tayo nagkaka-stretch marks. Ikaw rin meron, 'e. It's okay to treat normal parts of your body as normal because they are."

"Your body will change and your body will grow. Kung na-o-offend po kayo sa pag-e-expose ko ng stretch marks ko, that indicates a deeper issue within you," she added.

Another netizen commented on her response video with: "It's not normal lalo na pag di ka pa nagkaanak."

Seeing the opportunity for a quick science lesson, Miel responded with yet another video where she laid out science-backed research from Mayo Clinic that proved everyone can, indeed, have stretch marks, regardless of whether or not they've given birth.

"Ginoogle ko lang 'to, mga 30 seconds, nahanap ko na 'to," she emphasized. "...Anyone can have stretch marks, but some factors increase your likelihood of getting them."

"It's not saying na kailangan magkaka-anak ka for you to get stretch marks. Pwede rin pag teenager ka."

She ended her video by saying that research is key before thinking of leaving unsolicited comments like the one above. Not that they should be leaving any in the first place!

"Ginoogle ko lang 'yan, mhiema. Napaka-simple yung act of Googling, 'di ba? Papansin ka lang, alam ko. But I got to use it as an opportunity to teach you and other people. So the next time you try to comment on people's pages, do your research. Or literally do like, 30 seconds of Googling. Thank you!"

We couldn't have said it better ourselves, Miel!
