When your child needs new school shoes or has extra-curricular activities, how can mom pay for thousands of pesos for a single skincare item? It seems Mariel Padilla, mom of two, host, live seller, wife to Sen. Robin Padilla, knows exactly what the everyday Filipina mom goes through, and that is when given a choice between herself and her kids' needs, it's not even a question. The child's needs will always come first.
"So the reason behind why I wanted to make this line is because I feel that moms, hindi nila always priority ang self-love. They always come last. So it's not always na there's a budget for self-love. Alam mo yun, there's no budget for self-love", she said at an exclusive intimate launch of Vida Skin last December 14, 2023 held at Raffles Makati.

LOOK: Mariel Padilla Launches New and Affordable Skincare Line Vida Skin
Vida Skin is Mariel Padilla's skincare line in partnership with Grace Lee. It is formulated and created in Korea, inspired by her personal favorites from K-beauty giants. "I really, really wanted something great, premium, pero budget-friendly, Mariel said. The entire Vida Skin set is only P788 and it includes four items: cleanser, toner, ampoule, and cream.

The line is filled with beauty super ingredients like niacinamide, adenosine, madeca complex and yes, even 10 types of hyaluronic acid. Its color purple is derived from another star ingredient, the Jeju lotus flower extract which replenishes and recharges skin.
At the same exclusive launch, Mariel detailed their research and development process with her partner Grace and revealed that she kept asking for each product to be more premium, have more superpower ingredients, feel better, but for low cost. She also ensured that Vida Skin would be fragrance-free.

"Kasi yung anak mo kailangan ng bagong shoes, yung anak mo kailangan ng ganito. May something na naman sa school na kailangan naman whatever or may extracurricular activity na kailangan magsa soccer, magwa-whatever. So last ka. So paano ka bibili ng product na P2,000 isang bote, P6,000 isang ganito? How will you do that?" Mariel said.
Followers of Mariel on her social media accounts would know that the mom of two strives to get that glass skin look from her Super K Beauty favorites, an e-commerce platform that brings together k-beauty brands also by Grace Lee. Vida Skin is patterned after her favorites from the shop, and is high on hydration, revitalizing, and brightening for that coveted dewy skin. As of writing, Vida Skin is already open for reselling.

Aside from religiously applying her skincare routine day and night, Mariel says sleeping in and getting as much sleep as she needs to recharge is one of the simple ways she practices "self-love". Her reason? "Una sa lahat, libre ang sleep." Another is to make sure she stays hydrated.
Mariel explained to Smart Parenting in a previous interview that she believes a happy and healthy mom can care for her kids and family well.
