Most of us feel that using a primer is just an extra and unnecessary step in our makeup routines. We used to think so, too, actually—that is, until we saw this photo:
Our skin naturally has different textures—pores, fine lines, facial hair—and a makeup primer acts like cement to fill in these small gaps and create a smooth canvas for our foundations, BB creams, tinted moisturizers, or concealers. In the photo, the orange peel represents our complexion. Notice how the base makeup looked evenly-distributed on the side where a primer was applied.
This goes to show that if you're using a primer, you'll only need a bit of foundation and concealer to cover imperfections because the primer will already do half the job. A cool bonus: Your makeup will stay on for a longer period, too!
