These days, tourism isn't simply about immersing yourself in different cultures, tasting new dishes, and exploring new places. For beauty enthusiasts, trying out local beauty products or treatments has also become part of our itineraries. Maine Mendoza, for example, recently went on a trip to Japan with her family, where she spontaneously decided to book a hair appointment at one of the local salons—only to end up regretting it later.

“When you are in a foreign country and you make a spontaneous decision to get a haircut at a well-known hair salon for the experience and spontaneity only to regret it later,” Maine Mendoza wrote on X (formerly Twitter) and in the captions of her TikTok video showcasing her hair transformation.
While Maine doesn’t look too disappointed in the TikTok video, a photo of her crying after she got her haircut also spread online.
“Ang iksi na ng hair mo!” tweeted one user. To which Maine replied, “Alam ko po iniyakan ko na nga diba.”
Some fans and followers tried to comfort Maine, saying that she looked great regardless of her new haircut. Others pointed out that it did look a bit too short and preferred her hair a bit longer.
One netizen wrote, “I like your long hair before @mainedcm...pahabain mo [nalang] ulit [please].”
Maine then went on to explain that she really prefers her hair short since it feels lighter, but this haircut was a bit too short for her liking. “I like my [hair] short [because] it’s so light (but not this short ha), and TBH I don’t think magpahaba pa ako ever,” Maine replied honestly.
While Maine hasn’t posted any new photos of her hairdo, we did spot her on her go-to hairstylist Celeste Tuviera’s Instagram feed. We assume she went to her to try and remedy her haircut, and she finally looks much happier!
