Several Pinay influencers and celebrities have taken on the Asoka Makeup Challenge. In case you’re in need of a refresher, the Asoka trend features creators transforming from looking barefaced to a full Indian bridal look to the beat of "San Sanana," a song from the 2001 movie Asoka to showcase their impressive makeup skills and equally stunning video transitions. Other social media stars, however, have also tried putting their own unique spin on the challenge.

Ivana Alawi, for example, highlighted traditional Filipina beauty and fashion while transitioning to the beat of Angeline Quinto's "Piliin Mo Ang Pilipinas." Marian Rivera, on the other hand, took a nostalgic route, throwing us back to her iconic role in Marimar. Recently, Kyline Alcantara also took on the Asoka challenge, but instead of showing off a particular look or culture, she used it as a creative platform to address online criticism and personal struggles.

LOOK: Kyline Alcantara Has an Empowering Take on the Asoka Makeup Challenge

In her Asoka makeup video, she starts barefaced and emotional, with tears flooding down her face. Texts alluding to harsh comments she has received, like "abuser," "bitter," and "toxic," appear on the screen. As she gradually gets dolled up, she sings along to Taylor Swift's "Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?," a song addressing and confronting all the rumors surrounding her life.
In her caption, Kyline wrote, "More than a makeup challenge, I always 'get ready' for real-life challenges... Each day you have to wake up and be ready to face the camera and people despite enduring the toughest battles... This is for the 'little old me' who had to toughen up and paint my face not just with makeup, but also with a bright smile... This is for the rest of us who choose to #RiseAboveTheChallenge even if it is hard, painful, tiring, or feeling our dreams are crumbling."
