In an industry that often glorifies perfection and perpetuates unrealistic beauty standards, celebrities are not exempt from feeling insecure about their bodies. Case in point: Iza Calzado opened up about her personal struggles with body image, particularly during her early years in show biz.
The actress candidly shared that she used to be hyper-conscious of her body, especially when it came to her skin's imperfections.
“I was always very conscious of my body, like the way it looked. Feeling ko, if I had a normal body na walang stretch marks, loose skin, sobra akong comfortable [in front of the camera],” she shares in an episode of The Sexytime Podcast, revealing that she used to cover her stretch marks with makeup before filming steamy scenes.
“When I was much younger, I had more issues about [my body]. Back in the day, I would cover all my stretch marks with foundation, powder, ganyan.”
Now a mother at 41, who has experienced the changes that come with motherhood, Iza has taken significant steps towards self-acceptance.
“To be honest, I have been struggling to fully embrace my postpartum body. It’s a bit of a rollercoaster ride, really. I have my good days when I celebrate it for carrying and birthing to and now taking care of a child. Then there are those moments that leave me feeling frustrated even after years of working on loving and accepting myself,” she wrote in an Instagram post.
“This is a new chapter in my body and self-love journey. So I will choose to reframe the anxiety and turn it into excitement. Grateful for this new challenge and can’t wait to see where my hard work will take me. Whatever the outcome, what matters is I enjoy the process.”
You look beautiful, Iza!
