Get on this Selena Gomez-approved beauty routine!

Drawing on your dream brows every morning can be quite time-consuming. To remedy this, you’ve probably considered getting them microbladedbut let’s be honest, it isn’t the most affordable procedure and not all of us are keen on needles.

Luckily, there is a cheaper, less invasive way to get fluffier and fuller brows. Say hello to brow lamination, the viral beauty trend that even celebrities loves, Selena Gomez included! Want to know more about what it is, how it’s done, and how much it costs? Keep reading!

Everything You Need to Know About Brow Lamination

What is brow lamination?

Many people would describe brow lamination as a perm for their eyebrows, but it’s actually the opposite. A perm is meant to curl your hair strands while lamination is meant to straighten them and ensure that they stay in place for days on end. Think of it as a lash lift but for your brows.

This gravity-defying technique is perfect for those who want defined brows. The beauty of the process is that it makes use of all the natural hair already available on your eyebrows. No needles needed to draw on extra hairs! After trying it, you'd be surprised to learn that you never really lacked brow hair, but rather have stubborn, curly, or downward-pointing strands that refuse to maintain their shape, thus creating gaps and sparse-looking areas.

What is the process of brow lamination?

Brow lamination is a quick and easy three-step process:

  1. It all starts with a lifting cream. This cream contains chemicals that breaks down the hair bonds, softening the brow hairs, making it easier for the aesthetician to strategically manipulate and shape the brows more freely.

  2. After achieving the desired shape, they go in with a neutralizing cream which repairs the hair bonds and helps the strands stay in place. In order to help the chemicals in the cream work better and to really create a laminated effect they use a plastic wrap to press down the hairs.

  3. The last step is hydration. After removing the plastic wrap, a nourishing oil is applied to moisturize the hairs. This is done to counter any dryness that the chemicals from the creams may have caused. It not only helps avoid irritation but strengthens your brow hairs too.

It’s as simple as that! The procedure usually takes one hour to complete, meaning you can squeeze it in even during a weekday. Plus, there’s no downtime, so you can head back to your meetings more confident and with better looking brows.

How long do the results last?

It usually lasts between four to six weeks. But if you’re very particular with taking care of your brows, it can last up to eight weeks.

Are there any risks?

Since it’s minimally invasive, the risks of this procedure are quite minimal. Signs of irritation such as swelling, redness, and itching usually subside after an hour. But people with skin conditions such as rosacea, eczema, and those with a history of contact dermatitis may want to consult their dermatologists before getting their brows laminated.

Where can you get it done and for how much?

You’ve probably seen people on social media do DIY brow laminations at home. Plenty of influencers and even celebrities have tried doing so. But if it's your first time, we highly suggest having a professional do it for you first. That way you know you're using safe products and you get the best-looking results.
