This is the concept behind Filipinta Beauty, an indie brand that champions the creation of makeup that is undeniably Filipino in its core. If you find comfort in eating locally made snacks, then these makeup products will definitely make your eyes sparkle. Preview got a chance to catch up with Hanna Kirchoff, Filipinta's co-founder and brand director, to learn more about the inspiration behind their eye-candy products.
According to Hanna, Filipinta struggled to recover from the pandemic, and the brand was no longer viable in the Philippines. "I'm based in the United States anyway," she explained. So I decided it would be better if we started over here." She also recalls missing seeing Filipino snacks on every food shelf. "I miss a lot of the food that is readily available in every nook and cranny of the Philippines, and just thinking about it a lot gave me ideas on concepts involving food," Hanna explained. This makeup concept not only assisted her in overcoming homesickness, but her products also provided a sense of home to the Filipino-Americans living in the area.
But don't worry, Filipinta let us in on a little secret: They are working on bringing the brand back to the Philippines before the end of the year!
