Following her headline-making divorce announcement in the first half of 2024, Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has unveiled her latest venture: a perfume aptly named “Divorce.”

In July 2024, the Dubai royal made waves in the news circuit when she publicly ended her marriage in an Instagram post. The declaration began with Sheikha Mahra addressing her then-husband, Sheikh Mana bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum, as she denounced his alleged infidelity by writing that he was “occupied with other companions.”
“I hereby declare our divorce,” she wrote on the post. “I divorce you. I divorce you, and I divorce you.” The princess had seemingly applied the Islamic practice of triple talaq, a tradition where Muslim men can divorce their wives by stating “I divorce you” thrice. The centuries-old practice, although now banned in many countries, is traditionally reserved for Muslim men.
Months after the viral statement, Sheikha Mahra is now releasing a perfume that references the high-profile separation. The Dubai royal announced her fragrance venture in a short teaser posted on her Instagram page, which featured spliced clips of a panther’s eyes and her very own.
The Divorce perfume will be released under Sheikha Mahra’s own brand, Mahra M1. While an official release date has yet to be announced as of writing, the princess offered sneak previews of the product with a series of snaps that feature her posing alongside the perfume’s dark rectangular bottle.
Online reactions had cheered on the princess, with many inquiring about purchasing the perfume. “I love this new generation of fierce and courageous women… We are no longer tolerating the unimaginable, and enduring the unforgivable behind closed doors,” one user commented. “We are now moving accordingly, and setting healthy pathways for our daughters. Breaking generational trauma.”

The royal is one of the 26 children of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the United Arab Emirates’ vice president and prime minister. The 29-year-old wedded fellow royal Sheikh Mana bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum in 2023, and later birthed their daughter Mahra earlier this year. Aside from her role in Dubai’s regal ranks, the princess is also an entrepreneur, philanthropist, humanitarian, and a staunch advocate of women's empowerment.
