When it comes to tropical weather, there are really just two seasons: hot and hotter. So now that summer is here, you may want to take a look at your skin care regimen. Get ready to switch up some products for a summer-friendly routine.
1. Cleanser
When it’s hot and humid, you don’t want the feeling of thick, creamy cleansers on your face. You can go for a lightweight gel cleanser that will get the job done but also won’t strip your face of moisture.
2. Moisturizer
If you’re thinking of skipping the moisturizer because you’re feeling icky and sticky, why not switch to an oil-free formula instead? While it’s still best to layer on a separate sunscreen, a moisturizer with SPF is also a welcome addition to your summer beauty arsenal.
3. Toner
If you use a toner, consider changing your method of applying it on your face. Instead of soaking a cotton pad and dabbing the product on your skin, use an atomizer to spritz it on your face.
4. Serum
Because summer heat can mean excessive sweating, breakouts are inevitable. Go for acne-fighting serums to combat the threat of clogged pores coupled with extra sebum secretion.
5. Eye Cream
Just like your moisturizer, creams can be a little heavy for the weather. If you can invest in a gel-type eye product to switch to when the temperature hits the high 30s (feels like 40!), go ahead and make that investment.
6. Sunscreen
Go for a tinted sunscreen instead. You’ll still look sunkissed but protected from UVA and UVB rays.
7. Oil
If you’ve got dry skin and can’t forego applying facial oils this season, try lightweight products that get absorbed quickly into the skin. You want to seal in the moisture, but you don’t want to clog your pores.
8. Mask
When you’re in need of some well-deserved self-care, take a break from your usual heavy clay masks and try a cooling face mask.
9. Foundation
Bare skin is most recommended, but sometimes we need a bit of coverage to help us feel our best. If you prefer heavier coverage than a tinted moisturizer or BB cream, you can go for formulas that are light and are buildable.
10. Blush
Powder blushes tend to look cakey on sweaty, oily skin. If you want your blush to look seamless, try cream formulas or a cheek tint.
11. Eyeshadow
Eye makeup tends to crease and transfer especially when you’re sweating buckets. Steer clear of mess-ups by using waterproof shadows that won’t budge even when you’re in the water.
12. Eyeliner
Most liquid eyeliners are smudge-proof, but if you’re a pencil eyeliner kind of girl, there are eyeliners that set into a waterproof line within a few seconds.
13. Mascara
No one wants raccoon eyes in any sitch. Flutter your lashes without the fear of smudging with waterproof formulas that won’t move while you’re on-the-go but can still be removed easily with your cleanser.
14. Brows
If you haven’t gotten your brows microbladed yet, chances are, you’d be caught dead before leaving the house without your kilay on. This summer, make sure your brows stay in place by using a product that stays on no matter what. Skip the powder and go for formulas that have maximum budge-proof power.
15. Lip
Though matte lips were all the rage the past couple of months, plump and moisturized lips are always on trend in tropical climates. Switch to tinted balms for that extra hydration and just a hint of color.
16. Setting spray
What’s a full face of makeup if it’s just going to melt away as the day rolls on? Set it with a mattifying spray to keep oiliness at bay.
