It's been a little over a year since Andrea Brillantes launched her beauty brand, Lucky Beauty. Having already introduced a full range of cosmetics, including base makeup, lip products, and blushes, she is now expanding her beauty portfolio with her very own fragrance line—despite having anosmia.
What Is Anosmia?
Anosmia is the temporary or permanent loss of the sense of smell. While it is commonly caused by nasal congestion, it can also result from infections, neurological disorders, or head trauma. Some individuals, like Andrea, are born with congenital anosmia—a condition caused by genetic disorders or abnormal development of the olfactory system for which there is currently no cure.
Andrea Brillantes Releases Fragrance Line Despite Having No Sense of Smell
On July 19, Andrea announced her new fragrance line through an Instagram post. She wrote, “As many of you know, I was born with congenital anosmia (no sense of smell), but that doesn’t mean I don’t care about the scent I use!”
Emphasizing that her condition hasn’t stopped her from enjoying perfume, Andrea shares that it has, quite the contrary, made her more aware of how others perceive her scent. "So, even though I can’t smell, I still enjoy wearing perfume and am often asked about the fragrance I use." Shortly after, she unveiled her three new scents: Diary of a Lady, Stories for a Girl, and Letters from a Woman. Each fragrance from her Lucky Potions line—priced at P777—is beautifully packaged in romantic, potion-like bottles.
