Alden Richards and Bea Alonzo, two of the busiest stars of GMA-7, are known health buffs. The Start Up couple are focused on keeping a healthy lifestyle, and it's not just to look good in front of the camera.
During a press even, Bea talked about how having good health is her biggest motivation for keeping her mind and body in the best state. She said, "Ako, I started working out, yung talagang halos five times a week or four times a week, even before the pandemic. Parang may mga tao na nag-inspire sa akin to live a healthier lifestyle. And parang nadala ko siya mas lalo nung pandemic."
"I realized, siyempre lahat tayo maraming realizations nung pandemic, na parang, actually, yung aesthetics will just follow. Having a beautiful body will just follow. But, you know, parang main priority talaga is having a healthy lifestyle and having a healthy body," she continued.
Bea added she has been mindful of her health not just for herself, being the breadwinner of the family, but also for the people she cares for. "Kaya nga nasabi ko kanina, I’m a breadwinner, gusto ko mabuhay nang matagal. And lalo na ngayon, we’re facing challenging times. Kailangan talaga yung healthy ka na kahit merong virus na lumalaganap sa paligid, alam mo na hindi ka agad-agad makakapitan because you have a healthy lifestyle.
Bea made a case for keeping a healthy lifestyle beyond getting a well-toned physique, but as a boost to mental health. She explained, "Mental health is just as important as physical health. Parang feeling ko, kapag meron akong routine, three times, four times, five times ako magwo-workout, somehow, dahil lumalabas yung serotonin, naha-happy ako."
Bea continued, "Kapag alam ko na I’m eating right, parang di ba lumalabas din yung ano, parang feeling mo sumusunod yung skin mo, sumusunod lahat, e. When you’re not eating too much junk, you’ll feel good. Parang yung mindset mo mas nagiging klaro and parang feeling ko importante yun lalo na sa panahon ngayon."
Keeping fit, she said, is one way of showing kindness to oneself, stressing that rest and sleep are aspects of self-love. "Ako I learned to be kinder to myself. Kapag wala ako masyadong tulog, hindi ako nagwo-workout. Kasi yung feeling ko, yung recovery and sleep, napaka-importante in having a healthy lifestyle. So nagche-change yung routine ko everytime napupuyat ako because of taping. So parang, I try to be kinder to myself.cI don’t beat myself up, ‘Oh my gosh, hindi ako productive.’ Hindi ganun, I try to be kind."
She concludes, "I think din, it’s part of loving yourself. When you love yourself, you’re kind to yourself."
