Aging, and everything that comes with it, can be daunting–wrinkles, sun spots, and sagging skin, included. These can be quite overwhelming to deal with at first, but one of the best ways to learn how to embrace aging is to amp up your self-care.
Take it from 59-year-old philanthropist and businesswoman Ling Ling King, the wife of the late Archimedes King and stepmother of Angelina Mead King. She's been taking self-care so seriously since her teens, that even now that she’s approaching her 60s, her skin stays glowing and youthful. How does she do it, you ask? We have all the answers below!
Ahead, Ling Ling shares her current skincare routine and all her beauty secrets to aging gracefully. Time to take notes!
How Ling Ling maintains youthful-looking skin in her 50s
When asked about her daily skin care routine, Ling Ling likes to keep it simple, she said, "I find it relaxing to start my morning routine with a gua sha to stimulate blood circulation and encourage lymphatic drainage. My face is still soft and supple when I wake up, so it glides on very smoothly.
"For cleansers, I don’t have a particular favorite but I always choose something mild or gentle so it doesn’t strip my face of its natural oils. I follow it up with the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum from The Ordinary and the Moisturizing Cool Gel Cream from La Mer.
"And of course, the most important step: sun protection—I never leave my room without it. I have a few sunscreens but I’m currently rotating between the CC Screen from Supergoop and Eryfotona Actinica from ISDIN."

The entrepreneur added, "In the evenings, I use a toner instead of a serum. I’ve been using the P50 Lotion from Biologique Recherche for a while now. Before I put on my moisturizer, I apply the Helix-D Eye Serum which is an absolute favorite of mine. I think it’s the only eye product I’ve used that does the trick without making my eyes swollen or puffy in the morning.
"To moisturize my neck and décolletage area, I prefer to use natural oils only; that’s where my lymph nodes are so I don’t apply anything with too much ingredients or chemicals. Right now I’m using Marula."

Being a beauty enthusiast herself, Ling Ling has tried many products and she knows which work best for her skin. The product that she has been using the longest and truly swears by is the Moisturizing Cool Gel Cream from La Mer. She noted, “It does an excellent job and my skin agrees with it, so why change it? Besides, I like to keep my skincare roster simple, it’s easier that way.” This gel cream is known for providing a cool, lightweight but generous moisturization that delivers noticeable vibrancy and restoration to the skin.

Aside from her skin care routine, Ling Ling likes to keep a healthy lifestyle and regularly works out. She also likes to keep her body healthy with the right vitamins & supplements, hydration, and a clean diet which allows her skin to stay glowing and youthful-looking at her age. She pointed out, “At home, we always have two vegetables dishes with every meal and we use mostly organic produce and meat. I generally avoid carbohydrates, processed food, and sugar because they make my skin react badly.” She continued by listing her supplements, “Vitamin C is a must for me. I also take turmeric, Vitamin D3, Astaxanthin, flax oil, and beef liver to name a few.”
Ling Ling's best beauty tips
To achieve this captivating complexion of hers, Ling Ling suggests to consult with a doctor to prescribe you the right vitamins and supplements that best suit your body. It’s one of the best ways to feel and look beautiful when aging.
Ling Ling also advises to avoid facial fillers. She explained, “Fillers alter the way you look, they make you look old. You’re only young once—savor it! Keep it clean and natural. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about embracing who you are and being healthy.”
She continues, “Beauty isn’t in your face. It’s in your soul. People can see through you. That’s the kind of beauty shines brighter than any kind of product, treatment, or procedure. The secret to maintaining a youthful appearance isn’t skin-deep, it stems from nourishing your soul.”
