We may not have fall or winter, but we do have the -bers, the on switch for anything festive—and just in time for makeup that's making a comeback. From the less-is-more craze that really takes a lot of effort anyway, we're shifting to a more-color-and-shimmer-but-still-not-obviously-put-on mindset. We've picked the season's five ways to embrace pigment without going overboard.
1. Metallic
If the words "metallic" and "eyeshadow" bring forth forested-lid, over-tweezed brow nightmares, it's time to get over your ealry 2000s trauma. Think less Lizzie McGuire more KStew at the Met: Mettallic is reicarnated as foil accents, chrome nails and big glitter.

2. Dark
So. Much. Black. But it's less goth and more 1920s vamp. From velvety, smokey evening eyes to luxurious glossy plums, it's a more luxe take on fall's requisite dark beauty.

3. Neon
The key to wearing shocking color, like with everything else, is in moderation. A slive of flamingo-pink liner here, or a shocking orange lip, or a bright blue shadow... but don't wear them all at once.

The minimalist's daydream takes an arty form with graphic lines that are cleanly drawn with liner pencils or with a liner brush for a more painted-on yet stil neat effect.
